About Robin

Robin Martin-Jenkins's name has long been mentioned as a potential Test all rounder but he has never been given the chance to prove himself at an international level. The son of The Times newspaper's cricket correspondent Christopher Martin-Jenkins, Robin?s involvement with Sussex cricket goes back twenty two years, when he represented the under 10?s. He played for all the Sussex Junior age groups whilst attending Cranleigh Prep School and then Radley College, followed by Durham University.

In 1995 he joined the professional staff at Sussex at a time when Sussex had Alan Wells as captain and Franklin Stephenson as the overseas player. He stayed loyal to the county when many of the players left in 1996 and ever since he has played a major part in Sussex?s emergence as a trophy winning county, particularly in the C&G win of 2006 and in the championship winning years of 2003, 2006 and 2007.

As an all rounder Robin is renowned for his talent with both bat and ball. His highest first class score is 205 not out, scored at Taunton in 2002, and his best bowling is 7 for 51, taken at Horsham in the same year. In total he has scored nearly 8000 runs and taken over 500 wickets for his home county. His loyalty and commitment to Sussex, and to the game that he loves, have won him many friends amongst players, staff and supporters, and make him a deserved beneficiary for 2008.
